Portal can identify health risks and reduce avoidable costs in the Irish workforce
In Ireland, life expectancy for the average adult is 79.3 years for men, and 83.5 years for women.
While people are living longer, chronic health problems like heart disease, cancer, and lung disease are among the leading causes of death, according to the Department of Health report Health in Ireland, Key Trends 20161.
But concerns about the health of the country don’t stop there. Lifestyle factors such as smoking, drinking, levels of physical activity and obesity continue to be issues which have the potential to jeopardise many of the health gains achieved in recent years.

Health House is an interactive personal health risk assessment portal designed to support businesses implementing a Healthy Ireland framework2 within their organisations.

The new release of Health House, which incorporates the well-established and research-based health risk assessment algorithm developed by Wellsource, Inc. (www.wellsource.com), is the first health portal to include education, awareness and recommendations specific for an Irish workforce and population.
The portal connects healthy lifestyle choices to healthy outcomes and empowers individuals to be at their best physically, mentally, emotionally and professionally.
The portal provides a personal report which identifies an individual’s risk across seven key health areas - Heart, Cancer, Diabetes, Obesity, Fitness, Nutrition and Mental Health. This enables employees to identify their personal health risks and initiate actions necessary to reduce or eliminate these risks, and reduce avoidable costs, to themselves and their employers.
In addition Health House enables businesses to establish a baseline for their population, develop programmes specific to their health risks in conjunction with employees’ enthusiasm to change, and then measure the effectiveness of these programmes with hard data metrics.
